The "Madrid Agreement"/"Protocol Relating to the Madrid Agreement" were first signed in 1891 and 1898 respectively. Through this system, as long as each designated Contracting Party obtains a valid international registration, it can protect in a large number of countries trademark.
The Madrid Trademark is managed by the International Bureau at Geneva, Switzerland, which is one of WIPO’s institutions.
